Malaysia is made up of Peninsular Malaysia, on the Malay Peninsula, and East Malaysia, the northern part of the island of Borneo.
If you have the opportunity to travel to the island of Borneo, in the northern part, you will be really fascinated by its nature, its beaches, and especially by its people, absolutely friendly and very curious. The normal thing is that if you have arrived here there are several things that you will not be able to stop doing: visit the Kinabalu National Park and its mountain, visit a Proboscis monkey reserve, see the Rafflesia flower or go to Poring Hot Spring.
If you venture to visit Mount Kota Kinabalu (it is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia with 4,095 meters of altitude), you have to have at least 3 days, climb with a guide, and of course, be in good condition physical form, you end up with your knees “touching”.
If, on the other hand, you prefer a quieter option, then visit the park, where there are several routes that you can do during the morning (ranging from 343 meters to 5,620 meters), and after eating, go to Poring Hot Spring (it is 39 kilometers from the national park, in the state of Sabah) where you can admire the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia. The peculiarity of this flower is that it has five petals, with a diameter greater than 100 centimeters and up to 10 kilos in weight, it is the second-largest flower in the world, after Amorphophallus Titanium.
Another type of excursion that you can do on your own is a visit to the islands Manukan Sabah, Pulau Manukau … you can spend the morning there, moving from island to island, and snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of these islands. To do this you will have to go to the Jesselton Point Fair Terminal and buy the tickets. In the Terminal you will see up to a dozen companies that offer trips to these islands, the format is very similar and the cost is practically the same. Throughout the day the boats move to the islands with schedules between 20 and 30 minutes.
You cannot miss going to Bako National Park in Sarawak, in this park you will see the Probosci’s monkeys also known as “Narigudos” in their natural state, they are a real spectacle, yes, they go at their own pace and you have to be patient to be able to do them a good photo because when they get tired of tourists, they turn their backs or hide.
These types of excursions, as a general rule, you can do on your own, although the hotel where you stay usually has an agency person who can manage everything, another option without a doubt is to rent a car, if you go With the days numbered, the option of hiring the excursion is worth it, they are cheap excursions.
